Herb Mignery is a world renowned cowboy artist, member and past president of the Cowboy Artists of America. In 2001 he was elected a member of the National Sculpture Society New York.

Mignery was born and raised on a cattle ranch near Bartlett, Nebraska. He grew up roping and riding, and spent his two-year tour of duty in the Army as an illustrator. He then married Sherry Shavlik of Bartlett. He was later appointed to produce 12 western cartoons for calendars sold by the Thomas D. Murphey Co., and by 1963 he had made his commitment to art a career. In 1974, he decided sculpturing was the medium that best expressed his talents, and he began working exclusively in bronze.

“My work is more grassroots than Western. I’m interested in recalling the spirit of the pioneer, of the settler who labored against the elements and began to carve a country out of frontier. The story of those early farmers was never really told, and I’m trying to do just that.”

Herb Mignery and his wife Sherry live in Estes Park, Colorado and he works from his studio in Loveland, Colorado.
